OSPREYS CHALLENGE – PAPATOETOE RAVENS
We are proud to announce that Papatoetoe Ravens will join us for the Ospreys Challenge in April 2020. The Kiwis will embark on this once in a lifetime 16-night tour, travelling to England, Wales and France.
We are delighted to welcome the group from New Zealand to these shores to enjoy not only the rugby festival, but, to also showcase our beautiful scenery as well as traditions that will make their time with us hugely rewarding both physically but also educationally, as we learn from them too.
Papatoetoe Rugby Club is part of the Auckland Rugby Union, and is the 5th largest club under their guidance with over 750 junior and senior playing members. The club is situated in the South Auckland area and has forged strong links to their community whilst providing the opportunity for improved mental and physical health to all those that participate in the wonderful sport of rugby.
The tour party will visit both Twickenham and the Principality stadium whilst in the UK, experiencing the very best of Northern hemisphere sporting arenas as well as then spending some time on the world-famous Gower peninsula. Just a short drive from Swansea, the Gower Peninsula was designated as the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty back in 1956, and with its breath-taking beaches, wild moorland and limestone cliffs the Gower is a goldmine of inspiring landscapes and one of the most photographed in the world.
By travelling across the world, it is important to provide more than just rugby fixtures for the group, that is why the key outcomes of the trip will be for them to gain more cultural awareness by visiting schools, attending sporting events and sightseeing. They will have the opportunity to learn more about the sacrifices their countrymen and women made during the world wars by visiting the memorials and battlefields in France. In addition, the increased camaraderie that will flourish naturally during the trip will stay with the group for life, and what better way to see the world and share new experiences than with your best friends and teammates?
